This is a bit about FAR's background:
"FAR Sudan has a long history working with the people of Sudan. In 1984, FAR became registered as an international NGO with the Sudanese Government and started its involvement in development work. [It was an organization started by the joint efforts of Emmanuel International and SIM.] Today, FAR is one of the oldest international NGOs working in Sudan, and had a strong reputation amongst Sudanese civil society, NGOs, UN agencies and the government.
"In February, 2007 FAR further consolidated itself as an organization by becoming officially incorporated as a charitable organization in Canada, forming FAR International. The Board of FAR, FAR International and FAR Sudan work together to ensure lasting change within Sudan. Through this change SIM Canada and Emmanuel International continue to be key partners in FAR’s work.
"FAR is involved in a number of development sectors within mainly Northern Sudan and the transitional areas of the country. These sectors include providing emergency relief to refugees and internally displaced people (IDP's), rehabilitation projects, and long term development."
