Thanks to a beautiful act of generosity from right here in Canada, spiritual growth and community empowerment is spreading through rural Malawi.

Kimberley and Matt Zantingh, along with their children – Isaiah, Eden, Julian, and Cadence – generously donated 28 audio Bibles, providing an invaluable resource for communities seeking to connect with the Scripture.
These audio Bibles are specifically designed to support community members facing literacy challenges, particularly elderly beneficiaries and individuals who struggle with printed text. By hearing the word of God in their own language, hundreds of people who were previously unable to read the Bible now have direct access.
Bringing Hope, Faith, and Dignity to Rural Communities
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." – Psalm 119:105
On May 14, 2026, the Emmanuel International Malawi team put the Zantingh family's gift into action. They conducted a major Bible distribution outreach in the Machinga District under the Titukule Azimai-Evangelism and SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) Prevention Project.
The distribution targeted women participating in local Village Savings and Loans (VSL) groups within the Traditional Authority areas of Nsanama and Kawinga. These groups help women to build economic independence, and EIC is intetgrating faith-based teachings with practical community development initiatives to build safer, more resilient, and more empowered households.
A Holistic Approach: Faith and Social Justice
Alongside the audio Bibles, printed Bibles were also distributed to women across three target groups. Scripture engagement is not just about personal spiritual growth, but vital for social change.
Project facilitators emphasized that faith plays a critical role in:
- Promoting peace, healing, unity, and justice
- Challenging harmful cultural practices
- Encouraging compassion, respect, and tangible support for vulnerable people
- Addressing and preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) by promoting messages of dignity and protection
Transformation Through Dialogue
The impact of this project goes beyond distribution. Through the Titukule Azizmai Project, women continue to gather in VSL groups like the Chimvano VSL group to study Scripture, share testimonies, and uplift each other.
Using teachings from Biblical principles, women are gaining confidence, strengthening their faith, and discovering trusted, communal support structures to fight violence and injustice.
The gratitude and joy from Malawi are a powerful testament to what happens when Canadians partner with global communities. Through audio technology, printed words, and local empowerment, EIC remains committed to transforming lives spiritually, socially, and economically.
