|In 2012 Marianne was asked to be interim Chaplain of Pader Girls Academy.
In 2015 she piloted some materials for adolescents called “Understanding True Love” – a biblically based course that teaches teens about the love of God, and helps teens understand love and relationships in light of that love.
The response was overwhelmingly positive.
Soon after, we piloted the materials with a youth group at a local church. The success of these pilots and the invitations received to bring the course into other schools and churches prompted an idea.
Why not train teachers and student leaders in discipleship, and link them to available materials that meet the needs of their student population, and also help link teams in churches with schools to promote ongoing discipleship in primary and secondary schools?
This is what the school discipleship ministry will seek to do over the next two years. The ministry involves 3 main activities:
1. Casting vision in schools an nearby churches
We will help to link churches and schools to build up enduring discipleship structures within schools, using materials that are already widely available, such as Understanding True Love, the Explorers’ club (for primary school children), and Youth Alpha, among others.
