Chris Snyder launches new book called " Creating Opportunities - A Volunteer’s Memoir."

Chris e takes a tour through the streets of Bombay, rural Malawi and high-powered boardrooms to tell us why. The book is full of interesting people and compelling anecdotes, it is one book everyone involved in charity, whether staff, donor or volunteer should read.

Excerpt from the book on EIC Malawi
Snyder said, " It was impossible to do what we did without the support of Emmanuel International Canada." (EIC)
EIC have been in Malawi for 25 years and have grown from two people Paul and Helen Jones  to have a staff of over 120 people today . They do wonderful work in food security, water, the environment and education. Most of their money comes from churches in the west and they partner with groups from Rotary. As chance would have it Paul is also a Rotarian in the Limbe Club, a community close to Blantyre the capital of Malawi.
With considerable input from us , Emmanuel International will arrange the project, buy the materials, commutate with the schools and government , arrange accommodation transportation and meals, provide orientation and counsel around protocol and arrange for guest speakers. They also help identify other organizations and people to meet and even helped to arrange our weekends off stated," Snyder from his book."

“Not only is volunteering for every age, but it is also for every stage of life,” Chris says. The book outlines volunteer activities as they coincide with life milestones “be it as a young person just starting out, expanding one's experience from a boring job or keeping active, young and useful in retirement.” And at the end of every chapter, he asks questions to encourage further thought, discussion and action.

Creating Opportunities—A Volunteer’s Memoir is a fascinating trip through time and place, but it also provides advice for those who’ve found meaning—or would like to find meaning—in volunteering. Chris Snyder’s generous heart and good humour shines through every page of Creating Opportunities—A Volunteer’s Memoir is a must buy!

Chris has won numerous awards for his volunteer work spanning 70 years, including the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.
