This past month under the Titukule Azimai (Empower Women) project, Emmanuel International Malawi (EIM) and CAVWOC, with the support of Global Affairs Canada, led a powerful awareness campaign in Mbanira, TA Mizinga, Machinga District.
The campaign brought together 150 women, 45 men, and 12 traditional leaders, focusing on the urgent issue of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). With rallying cries like "Break the Silence – End SGBV in Our Communities" and "No Excuse for Abuse – Stand Against SGBV," the event featured compelling poetry and a short drama that stirred hearts and sparked essential conversations.
Community collaboration was at the heart of this campaign, with enthusiastic participation from Village Agents, Community Champions, and Community-Based Trainers. Branded T-shirts were presented to Traditional Authorities and key leaders as a symbol of commitment and unity in the fight against SGBV.
Together, we are making voices heard, equipping communities, and boldly standing up against violence—because every woman and girl deserves to live in safety, dignity, and hope.
